Doctor Howard Zehr, now a professor at the Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia has written a valuable and fascinating book, Doing Life, Reflections Of Men and Women Serving Life Sentences [in Pennsylvania].

This informative resource is available in paperback from the publisher, Good Books, Box 419, Intercourse, PA 17534 for just $15.95. It is a compendium of biographical sketches of 58 persons who are serving life sentences in Pennsylvania. Doctor Zehr has illustrated each personality profile with photographs of the prisoner. You get to see them as real people instead of monsters. The author has also expressed the ways the convicts cope with life behind bars, with their offenses and with themselves.

Fortunately for us, Doctor Zehr complied his book when he did. It could never be produced under the current repressive political regime. We urge you to buy a copy for yourself and one to donate to your public library.
