Diana Maddox is or was, a sergeant on the Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania police force. That’s near Pittsburgh in the Southwestern corner of the state. Her boyfriend, Gerald Brewer, is/was the chief of the same department. The pair has been charged with stealing money from the police department. Apparently some of their colleagues were miffed when they didn’t get a cut of the loot. The Maddox/Brewer team is accused of lifting over $38,000 from the department’s “evidence” safe. The money had been seized with typical police heavy-handedness from drug suspects. So called “drug money" is a favorite source of supplementary income for cops all over the country. Usually it’s used to buy prostitutes. This cop-couple is apparently quite fond of gambling. They are said to have a huge gambling debt even after they stole the money which, of course, the cops had first stolen from drug suspects. When things got too uncomfortable in Wilkinsburg, the couple “relocated” to Florida, but they were found and returned to Pennsylvania. Chief Brewer is also accused of doing unpleasant things to a few witnesses. That’s certainly no more unusual than cops stealing from suspects. Cops are thugs and crooks. If they search you, expect them to steal from you.
