With very few exceptions prisoners lose almost everything when
they disappear behind prison walls.
The 120,000 state, local
and federal prisoners in Pennsylvania are no exception.
Most
have lost their families, their wives and their income.
They
have no roots and few hopes.
They are reduced to being so many
bodies to be stored by the 15,000+ highly paid, underworked drones
on the prison staffs.
Without help from interested and loving persons outside, the inmates learn only how to be "better" criminals. They sink into anger and resentment. Most will survive the deprivation and oppression of being punished, but none of them will be improved or rehabilitated. That's not the way of Pennsylvania's Department of Imprisonment. We invite you to intercede. By helping prisoners you help the whole society. You do what the imprisonment system fails to to. You give hope and encouragement.
