Ted Stevens is, perhaps the worst crackpot in the United States Senate. Stevens is from Alaska, the most socialized and subsidized of the states. That speaks to the kinds of hypocrites Republicans are. They preach against "welfare" for the poor while raking in the biggest share for themselves. Senator Stevens is one of the mob of crooked Republican politicians who steal from the taxpayers and supports President George W. Bush, killing, war and treating persons badly. Like his son, Benjamin Stevens, papa Ted is finally in trouble for his crooked political dealings. Most of us think of Stevens as the crass kook shrieking on the senate floor for his billion-dollar road/bridge to nowhere. The truth is, he's far worse. He's been into a lot of seriously shady stuff. Since the Republican party was invented in the 1850s, it's been the haven for incompetents and crooks. Throughout its shabby history, the Republican party has welcomed liars, perverts, hypocrites, and phonies. Thanks to lies and money, Republicans have been very successful. You've paid for their success. It goes without saying that Republicans are crooks who exploit ordinary citizens in order to benefit themselves and their big-business, pro-war, racist sponsors. To many, the most disgusting aspect of Republicans is their phoniness, their hypocrisy. They are the "Family Values" folks who screw whores and cheat on mom. They are the "Hate-the-Queers" crowd who suck on pageboys' privates. They are the Honesty-in-Government liars who rob us blind. With wealthy corporations and subversive organizations behind them, the Republicans have plenty of money (much of it stolen from you) to finance their campaign of lies and propaganda. In many ways they are like an American Fascist party, extreme and brutal. Republican political propaganda goes far beyond simply lying. They've successfully created a whole political mythology. Like well-crafted folk tales, Republican mythology is a cult of "HEROES" (or really supposed heroes). These are: phonies like Ronald Reagan, the demented and senile president who's pretended to have done great things - who knows what. It's a fabric of invention, distortion and pure lie. Part of the Republican mythology is religious claptrap, part is fable used as "history." Being liars, the whole Republican philosophy is based on falseness, just look up the "K Street Project. They want you to be the worker ants while they are the dictatorial queens being served and worshiped. Ted Steven's Alaskan crony, Republican congressman Donald Young, is also being investigated for his crooked dealing. Among other things oil corporation bribes are suspected. VECO Corporation, Alaska's biggest oil field engineer has been implicated in bribing Republican Congressman Young and other Republican politicians. What's hard to understand is why the citizens of Alaska want crooks representing them in government. Maybe it's the welfare they bring into the state. Republicans are politic's criminal class. Even crooks, liars and killers need a place to call home. Even the enslavers, the bigots and the hypocrites need a haven. The Republican party is it. "Republican" is the English word for crooked!
