Torture
By: Edgar Saint George
Editor-in-Chief

Richard, alias "Dick," Cheney, the Vice President of the United States is America's chief public advocate for the torture of prisoners. He's the mouthpiece for George W. Bush's Republican policy of abuse and violence. The Christian fundamentalist who manipulate President Bush approve of torture and abuse. Harming people is their religion. They have an irrational morality.

Mr. Bush's Republican administration disgraces our country by reverting to the inhumane savagery of the Middle Ages. America now has a string of secret prisons and many secret prisoners, "Disappeared Ones." Before Bush, only the most oppressive tyrants sank to these practices. Dictators and murderers from Third World countries such as Chile, Iran and North Korea used torture against political enemies. The Bush administration is doing the same thing for the same reasons.

Most of the victims are innocent suspects, soldiers and politicians. Their torture and murder produces only more hatred of the United States. It endangers us more because when we get captured, we'll suffer the same fate.

Mr. Bush's Republicans and Christians have no respect for human life, human dignity or for morality. They care about power and money. Mr. Bush is a Nero.

One aim of the United States Constitution was to guarantee decent treatment of everybody, even captives. The civilized countries of the world are appalled by America's uncivilized policies. We should all be appalled. Decent persons everywhere should oppose Vice President Cheney, President Bush and the Republican policy of abuse.
