Petty, Cowardly, Extreme
The Frackville Stinger Flap
By: Elas Mason

In jailhouse argot a "stinger" is a little, homemade water heater. Metal fragments are connected to electric current and immersed in water causing the water to boil. Stingers are harmless except that they occasionally short out the power causing a breaker to open. It's a very minor inconvenience for the guards (normal ones at any rate) to flip the breaker back on.

Stingers are very common in prison. They are used to heat coffee, soup and other foods. Nobody much cares, it's much too trivial and unimportant a matter... except at the Frackville prisons.

The Frackville, Pennsylvania pussies are such petty bullies that to them a stinger is a serious matter! Notify Homeland Security! Callout the search teams! Punish, punish, punish - not just the offender, but everyone who might be an offender!

Recently the power went off in the few cells controlled by one faulty breaker. The block sergeant, a genus of perspicacity and decisive (albeit illegal) action, decided that someone in one of the cells possessed a dreaded stinger. It was a terrifying thought! He couldn't act with prudent moderation or tolerant good sense. That's not the Frackville way. In the Frackville prison much is made of triviality while nothing is done about important things like medical needs, unsafe condition or crimes by the staff.

Based on his suspicion, the sergeant punished all the occupants of all the cells. Even if a prisoner had possessed a fearsome stinger, 7 men were obviously innocent. The sergeant did care about innocence or justice or even about common sense. He punished them all. It's the Frackville prison way.

I don't know if he phoned the state police and the FBI, but he summoned the prison search team. A huge sum of tax money was squandered in the futile search for the nonexistent stinger. It's the Frackville prison way!

I know that you feel safer at night knowing that stingers (even imaginary ones) are being searched-out!
