Most of us recognize that state cops are thugs. One who lives in Elizabethtown, that bastion of right-wing oppression, repeatedly threatens to murder his peaceable neighbors. Being part of the cop/mob, the bully gets away with it.
Every few days we hear about another cop who got so bad that even his own turn on him.
Jeffrey A. Piper is a state cop. Remember that name, Piper. He might be the guy with the gun who stops you. His wife says he's dangerous; who should know better?
Mrs. Piper claims that Jeff likes to beat her up. He likes to drag her around. He likes to threaten her. She's not a state cop, so who cares what happens to her?
On 10 September 1996 the cops were called to the Piper home in Lower Paxton Township (Dauphin County). They of course didn't arrest a fellow cop. They just suggested that he go out for a while. The non-cop woman was given cop-style information.
The result was no surprise. The state cop had allegedly already taunted his wife that nothing would happen to him if she reported him. He was right.
Let's dispel the illusion that somehow cops are "good" or desirable. Like diarrhea, they are sometimes necessary evil.
