Dear Ms Flohr:
Pursuant to 65 PS 66.1 et seq., I request access to the below listed public records for the purposes of making inspection and/or copying.

In spite of the enormous budget deficit, a gymnasium or health club is being constructed on prison grounds at State Correctional Institution - Smithfield by prisoner slave-labor. The gymnasium, called a "fitness center," is apparently for the benefit of a few members of the prison staff.

Please provide access to ALL the records which reveal:

  • A. The complete cost of the gymnasium's construction to the taxpayers,
  • B. The complete cost to the taxpayers of the construction materials for the building and for equipping the gymnasium including reimbursement, if any, to the Inmate General Welfare Fund for weights and equipment seized from the prisoners,
  • C. The cost to the taxpayers of the parcel of land upon which the gymnasium is constructed.
