Christopher Roney
By: Traci

My name is Traci. I'm from West Philadelphia. I think the death penalty should be outlawed. I don't think mere mortals should have the right to decide when a person should die. That's why we have a Judgment Day.

Christopher Roney was the love of my life. Things have been hell for him ever since the day he was arrested. Not only do I feel that his trial was full of prejudice, this jury (in my opinion) was not a jury of his peers.

Christopher is a good, good man. What's more, he'd never been in prison until this happened. Still, after his codefendants each took the stand to testify against Christopher, never did he once incriminate the other two men, nor himself.

Although Christopher and I haven't spoken for sometime, my feelings for him have not changed. He's a good man with a very big heart. I will always love him!

To me his trial was a joke. His lawyer was more interested in performing for the media than in doing his best to defend an innocent man who doesn't belong on Death Row. Although everyone isn't innocent, Chris is! Even those who are guilty, putting them to death is wrong. It's inhumane and disgusting.

I pray that Chris will have a chance to appeal the first judge's decision. I hope that one day the death penalty will be abolished.

"Death be not proud, though some call thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so,
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poor death, nor yet canst thou kill me."
John Donne, circa 1610
