Religion is an element in most people's lives. In prison, religion is as much a social, cultural and therapeutic force as a matter of faith. The religion practiced in prison typically carries over to the community when the prison is eventually released.

Various religious groups provide valuable services, counseling and/or education for prisoners and their families. This website is a nonprofit corporation actually owned by the Religious Assembly of Philadelphia.

Regrettable, religion is also part of the cause of the severe intolerance and "retribution" mentality which infects our present culture, government and prisons. Religion should be inclusive and healing.
