Jeffrey Beard, the crackpot who runs the Pennsylvania Department of Imprisonment, circulated the above notice in January 2009. Sadly, Beard suffers from serious personal, personality and psychological abnormalities. Rather that even trying to understand why he wants to further isolate and censor prisoners, we've just reproduced his draconian notice. We are convinced that Boss-Beard is trying to hide the torture and related abuses which flourish in his prison system. He doesn't want the public, the legislators or the courts to see how vicious and mismanaged the system really is. Ask yourself this question, if the prison system was doing its job and "correcting" anybody, why is the number of prisoners always growing? We'll publish any and all requests from prisoners for penpals. We never charge for the announcements and we'll happily include a photo or other graphic. We believe that contact with the outside world and with ordinary society and ordinary persons helps prisoners endure prison and helps them integrate back into society.
