The most reprehensible goose-stepper of the extremist Republican right-wing is Jeffrey Piccola, the Majority Whip of the state senate. You can't say enough bad things about him. He's a caricature of the evil Fascist martinet who populates the bad-guys in cartoons. Piccola, a silly looking little yokel hailing from the metropolis of Elizabethville in northern Dauphin County in Central Pennsylvania, is one of the architects who has fashioned the Commonwealth into the most murderously intolerant and oppressive justice systems in the North; a place decent persons and businesses try to avoid. Pennsylvania has one of the most sweepingly uncivilized and severe death penalties in the country. It authorizes the execution of children, the mentally ill and the mentally retarded. Piccola likes that. His sick idea of good law is to kill our own citizens. Some moderates wanted to modify the law to ban the execution of the mentally retarded. They said that an IQ of 70 or below so fundamentally impairs a person's reasoning capacity that he shouldn't be killed for what he does. A naive citizen wrote to Senator Piccola asking him to support Bill 26 which would have created the IQ 70 threshold. No, Piccola wouldn't support the measure. According to Piccola, the prosecution should be allowed to stampede or mislead a jury into giving the death sentence to even a profoundly mentally retarded person! The most frightening thing about Jeffrey Piccola is not that he's the vicious extremist that he is, but rather that "good" Pennsylvania citizens have actually voted him into power!
