America Honors Brave
Frackville Sergeant

By: Audie Murphy

The quality of the guards at the Frackville state prison in the East-Central part of Pennsylvania is none too good. For that reason they'll promote just about anybody. The test is usually if the guy can read and write at a fifth grade level. The administration had to stop giving psychological tests. The "MMPI" pointed to too many serious personality defects.

Recently they promoted a sterling candidate to sergeant. It proved to be a very wise move. Almost at once the new sergeant cleverly detected a dangerous prisoner breaking the rules. The convict carried a commissary order form into the prison dining hall! The inmate had it in his shirt pocket. You can imagine how dangerous and frightening that can be. Worst of all, the convict showed it to another prisoner!

The staff was terrified. The new sergeant was promptly notified.

The shocking offense brought out the best qualities in the new noncom. Without fear for his own safety, he called the felon to task. Now that's bravery!

In appreciation for his heroism a parade is planned for the rookie sergeant. A medal may be struck immortalizing his deeds. The whole world is much safer. The old prisoner should be ashamed of himself for scaring the Fracks so much.
