Each state prison has a staff of highly paid persons who are charged with taking care of the health of the prisoners. While most of these "healthcare professionals" are the misfits and castoffs of the profession, a few are as good and as caring as you'll find in the private sector. The problem is that all too many of these people, especially the so-called "physician's assistants" are cruel, not to mention incompetent and sometimes a bit psychotic. Recently we received an anonymous email from a former member of the military who is now working in "healthcare" in a Pennsylvania prison. Apparently he doesn't realize how easy it is to trace emails, but, as always, we respect the correspondent's wish for anonymity. We are publishing part of the email so that you can see what sorts of people are caring for the health and safety of Pennsylvania's 37,000 prisoners. How would you like this bird taking care of you? "...Personally, I believe [that] the American justice system can take a lesson from the Saudi Arabian system. Public flogging, amputation of hands for stealing and decapitation for serious crimes would clean out and limit the cess-pool [sic] society of our prison system. These people have wronged society and you want to provide them with more information* to become a larger threat to the very people stuck with providing care for these so-called individuals. This is just my philosophy of a healthcare provider and member of the armed forces." * Apparently this is a reference to our publishing the names of the staff. Since prisoners don't have access to the web. It's hard to see how the prisoners will even see the public information.
