DAs As Bad As Mike Nifong
By: Roberta Webster

Much has been made of Mike Nifong, the district attorney in Durham, North Carolina who prosecuted the case of the Duke University lacrosse players who were falsely accused of rape. The media pretended that Mr. Nifong was somehow unusual. That's not true.

Many, if not most, district attorneys and prosecutors are crooked. They customarily lie, distort evidence and care much more about convictions than about justice, fairness or honesty. DAs in Pennsylvania (with only a few exceptions) relish sensational cases, sensational accusations and especially sex scandals. Such salacious matters put the DA in the spotlight. They make him (or just as often, her famous. DAs are politicians. They're ambitious. They'll sacrifice almost anything, and certainly any suspect, for fame, notoriety and 2 minutes on the evening news.

The abuses associated with Michael Nifong are very common for prosecutors. Many persons, at least 1 out of 7 of those convicted are not guilty of the crimes for which they were convicted. In sex crimes such as rape, most of the charges are bogus. Women lie a lot! Women are vindictive, catty and cruel. Where a woman can ruin a man, or men, with just a few words, it's a great temptation. That's especially true where the woman is 100% protected and shielded while her victim is publicly vilified.

Young woman are far more likely to make false or exagerated accusations than more thoughtful and mature woman. At the same time, DAs of the Nifong type are far more likely to pretend to believe young and attractive woman. The prosecutors, like the cops, think with their dicks. DAs also think with their ambitions. Don't believe a charge just because a DA says it's so.
