Republican state senator, D. Michael "Mike" Fisher was elected Attorney General of Pennsylvania. Many persons regard him as a dangerously oppresive extremist. Some interests, however, benefit from the crushing of personal liberties.

PP&L(the big business electric utility) was engaged in a tax case with the state. Attorney General Fisher's people accepted $2,500.00 from PP&L.

Conrail, (the big business rail carrier) was engaged in a tax case with the state. Attorney General Fisher's people accepted $2,500.00 from Conrail.

These payments were not called bribes. They were characterized as "political contributions." Isn't America wonderful!

Matthew Tomalis was a prosecutor working for the Attorney General. He was assigned to the Department of Revenue. He was prosecuting the cases against PP&L and Conrail. He wasn't an obedient instrument of the extremist Republican regime. He complained about the "political contributions" to his boss, "Mike" Fisher.

"Mike" Fisher fired Matthew Tomalis. Attorney General Fisher claimed that the payments from PP&L and Conrail weren't the reason he fired the lawyer. Attorney General Fisher claimed that the fact that the prosecutor wasn't a fanatic Republican bigot had nothing to do with Fisher firing him.

We suggest that, if you have a problem with the Attorney General's office, you fork over a $2,500.00 "political contribution" and you goose-step to the Republican Party's dogma.
