There are about five and a half million Moslems in America. One out of ten of them is a prisoner. It has become fashionable to depict Moslems all over the World as hate mongers, extremists and dangerous. While a few individuals may meet that definition, Moslems are not more dangerous than any other religious group. The Christian ayatollahs such as Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are every bit as vicious and dangerous as any extremist on Earth. It's the unfortunate religious obsession of preaching hatred which is dangerous, not any specific sect of people. As a group, Moslems are likely not any more medieval and oppressive than any other religion. The so-called fundamentalists and conservatives of all religions are the danger. They are the oppressors who hold down the people and crush personal liberties. Where religious crazies harangue about God's vengeance, God's wrath or God's punishment, you know you're hearing a hate monger. He uses God as justification for his own cruelty and evil. The Moslems of the World are furious that the United States has slaughtered hundreds of thousands of their neighbors. They are furious at the cruel and contemptuous ways that the United States has abused them. They want it to stop. They think that it's unfair and unjust. In America one of the largest bodies of Moslems is in the prisons. There are about 600,000 Moslems in America's thousands of prisons. Almost all are converts as opposed to having been born into the faith. Almost all are black, militant, radical and extreme. Like foreign Moslems, they feel that they have been treated unfairly and unjustly by America. Obviously, these black American Moslems carry a potent racial bias and a social antipathy. Religion is a dangerous drug where it is misused to harm others. All American prisoners should be urged to expand their perspectives so that they grasp their stake in society and their inclusion in culture.
