The conservatives have been making a fuss about what they call
"morality" in politics.
By that they mean sex.
Like most
neurotics, the conservatives are obsesses with sex.
That's doubly
true for the Christian-conservatives: sex and money.
With a statistician, our historian has made a non-partisan assessment of the 20 most recent US presidents. They assessed not just the presidents' sexual morality, but morality generally. In reality, sex is a trivial consideration in national politics. Most normal men (all the presidents so far have been men) have had mistresses and led active and promiscuous sexual lives. In the case of Abraham Lincoln, (1809-1865, served 1861-1865), the first Republican president, his closet homosexual affairs are now well known. More damning, of course, is the slaughter of over half a million Americans which he caused. In assessing morality we evaluated six essential moral criteria.
Each factor was mathematically weighted based on how important
it is deemed to be in judging the immorality of a president.
The factors and their weights are: The Social Harm Done, weighted 35 Theft, Graft and Greed, weighted 18 Religious Bigotry, weighted 6 Lying and Deception, weighted 2 and Sexual Immorality, weighted 1 Often where someone points a finger at others, he's trying to deflect guilt from himself. That's what happened here. In spite of the conservatives wailing about morality, our analyses shows that, on average, Republican presidents have been 37% more immoral than Democrats. That's more than a third worse! If just sexual "morality" were considered, as one might do for Catholic school girls, the Democrats are a lot more robust than the Republicans on average. The presidents included in this analysis are listed below with their party affiliations and their terms of service.
from 1885 to 1889
The most immoral conduct of any person, at least in our understanding of morality, is killing, maiming and harming his/her fellow man. In all honesty, America is a pretty bloodthirsty country. One of the things which separates America from other developed nations is that the Americans tend to put a small value on the lives of others. They cherish their own lives, but hold others' lives in contempt. In civilized countries, greater value is put on the lives of strangers. Many American politicians are even more bloodthirsty then the ordinary citizen. As a result, there's a lot of official (and semi-official) killing. We regard war as the pinnacle of immorality. The slaughter of war grows from the worst, most immoral traits in the human animal. It is testosterone, pettiness, bulling and incompetence. But it also reflects the pure demonic lust to kill. There are those who argue that there were/are "good" wars. That's oxymoron. There may be necessary wars. Perhaps much of World War II falls into that category. Most other wars result from the inability of the politicians and populous to cope with a problem or resolve a disagreement. The more incompetent and bloodthirsty a politician, the more likely he is to resort to war and other kinds of killing such as assassination and execution. But neither incompetence or ambition are justifications for immorality. America has had a president who was likely involved in the assassination of his predecessor, another who started a war just to get re-elected and another just to boost the price of oil in order to make his cronies richer. Reagan started a war simply because he thought it would be fun, but Reagan was doubtless demented at the time. Next to Lincoln, certainly Lyndon Johnson was the most maniacaly bloodthirsty American president. One of the worst aspects of being a powerful nation is the tendency to bully others, to throw our weight around where there is really no need to do so. Unquestionably, America has become the worlds worst bully, terrorizing anyone who disagrees with us. Below is the assessment of the 20 most recent presidents as they lusted to kill and bully. After studying each man a grade was computed reflecting his immoral desire to kill. Worst First Immorality in Declining Order Numbers Are Relative Degrees of Badness

Presidents, at least modern ones, possess enormous power. During the last 30 years or so, the presidents have inched more and more toward tyranny: rule in spite of the people instead of by rule by the people. This unfortunate immorality became acute with George W. Bush. Some presidents such as Carter and Ford sincerely tried to accommodate all the people. Others such as Bush and Reagan did the reverse; dictating to the citizens what they should want. Vast presidential power allows any holder of the office to behave corruptly. It must be a strong temptation and an expression of the excess of ego over wisdom. A few presidents such as Coolidge and Carter didn't let the power go to their gonads. Others such as Johnson and Reagan, used the power to do considerable harm. The injury done to the American society and culture by presidential misdeeds can be and has been profound. The injury is proportional to the man's ego and disrespect for the views of others. In the chart below we have analyzed the extent of the harm done to the American (and world) society by the 20 most recent presidents. In all cases, the presidents also did some good, but in assessing their immorality we have not considered any incidental or accidental benefit done to the society. Johnson, for example certainly did some social good. The immorality of his social harm was gigantic! The social harm done by George W. Bush won't be healed in a generation. Sad to say, politicians all over the world and throughout history have used public office to enrich themselves, their families, supporters and cronies. We regard such conduct as seriously immoral. Some of this conduct, however, is considered ethical, even laudable especially by conservative polticians. For example when Richard (alias "Rick") Santorum, the extremist senator from Pennsylvania finagles undue and/or unjustified tax money to come into the state, there are those who regard that as good. Most persons, even Christian-conservatives regard it as immoral for a politician to use his office to enrich himself, his family or his cronies. Some, such as Harding, simply stole. others such as Bush lavished more riches on very wealthy business bosses. Sill other such as Reagan and Roosevelt used their positions to get special considerations. If a politician is given a special price, a special place on any special consideration, he's immorally misused his office. In the following chart we present our assessment of the theft of the various presidents. For presidents at the beginning of the twentieth century, morality was somewhat different. Both the presidents and the public felt that the president was entitled to certain advantages as part of his job. Just as most of those men frequented whores and abused women, they also accepted gifts and discounts, as a matter of course. Many religious cults including the Christian-conservatives don't regard religious intolerance as immoral unless it's directed against them. America was long a haven for quaint and often dangerous religious mythologies enforced with extreme bigotry. The philosophy was and still is today that "God loves me better than she loves you and I'll kill you to prove it!" We regard religious intolerance and bigotry as seriously immoral. We may be naive to think that the First Amendment's admonitions about religious tolerance to be essential, regardless of how strongly the Christian-conservative may intend to impose their bizarre theocracy. In assessing presidential religious bigotry we've analyzed only the 10 most recent presidents. Before that time the various Christian cults were so exclusively ensconced in American culture and at such bitter odds with each other that a Jew may as well have been a Martian and a Hindu was surely a demon. Like Jefferson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the exception to that generality. He appointed the first Jew to the Supreme Court and otherwise drew Jews into government. At the time, there were very few devotees of mythologies outside the Judeo-Christian European background except, perhaps for the various African practices of the slaves. At the turn of the twentieth century religion was deeply entangled with the consumption of alcohol. While Washington had been a brewed and one America's first civil wars was against whiskey-makers in Western Pennsylvania, certain persons regard drinking as immoral on religious grounds. I admit to being close to that view, however I regard it as foolish and pointless, not religious. In other ethical systems drunkenness and drug reliance may be regarded as seriously immoral. We have not even tabulated those human weaknesses although admittedly, several American presidents, such as Nixon, George W. Bush, and Johnson were serious drunks. The assessment of religious bigotry expressed in the following chart reflects the evil of intolerance and the official favoritism given to one's pet dogma. We accept that most persons have some degree of religious intolerance and we've taken that into account. In most dictionaries under "politician" the first definition is "liar." I've never met a person who didn't lie at least a little. What's the Santa Claus scam, but a lie told to get children used to being deceived? By and large politicians are more flagrant and opportunistic liars than the rest of us. Where such lies are told about one's sexual or personal life, they can scarcely be regarded as immoral. Where the politician lies about public and/or governmental matters, matters which implicate the well-being of the citizen such as Bush's "weapons of mass destruction" lie and Eisenhower's "U2 plane" lie, the dishonesty is very immoral. The chart below takes into account the general human weakness to lie and the politician's weakness to lie in order to sway the public. The chart reflects serious, official lying. Most moral complaints against sex are based on the conviction that somebody's getting something that I'm not. Throughout most of history, even while the Christians held sway, sexual activity was considered good, indeed, great! Popes, kings and prelates held orgies. Folks figured that pleasure was a gift from God. The Muslems regard paradise as a continuous orgasm. That sounds exhausting to me, but the point is that neurotic shame, guilt and immorality are inventions of the past two centuries. All but one of the presidents are known to have had mistresses, concubines and to have frequented whores. Promiscuousness is nearly universal among men and is not uncommon among women. The American people are ashamed of their natural and healthy sexual drives. It's another example of how religion has made life miserable - that's about all the religion is good for. A great fuss was made when Bill Clinton was exposed (no pun intended) for a little sex with a supporter. It was all pure political hypocrisy. Why would anybody care if a guy gets a blow-job? Jealousy, I suspect. Until about that era most persons, even reporters, respected a president's private life, but scandal became fashionable as a way for the conservatives to condemn others for exactly the same things that they themselves were doing. George W. Bush's minions have skillfully manipulated the media. Much of his sexual extremes have been pretty well concealed. By the time a man's old enough to become president, his sexuality has usually mellowed considerably. He's learned how to keep his sexual affairs secret. It's more common for trysts to predate the man's arrival in the White House. Biology suggests that one's energy level and ability to rule are proportional to one's sexuality, in brief: the better a man's talent to run things, the higher his sexual drive is likely to be. Impotent men are also often sexually impotent. The chart which follows reflects the sexual immorality of the last 20 presidents. We don't know enough about McKinley to make an intelligent evaluation of his conduct. And it doesn't matter very much. A president's sexual morality is of no legitimate interest to the public unless one is a peeping tom. Sexual morality may be of legitimate interest to one's spouse or paramour, but why should we care that Reagan screwed so many women or that George W. Bush was frequently impotent? The chart below puts all the information into a summary. The idea was to calculate who were the most immoral presidents and gauge just how immoral they were. The values in the individual charts were multiplied by the weight given to the factor involved, (60 down to 1). The values were all added together and expressed as an average. Personally, it's not perfectly clear to me exactly what Johnson's rating of 1709 actually means. I can see that he was the most immoral president and was worse even than George W. Bush, but I didn't find it as clear as the statistician thought it was. I had some of the ratings converted to percentages on the basis of 100 being the worst that a person could possibly be. In that light Johnson was an 84 out of 100, George W. Bush is a 67 out of 100, Herbert Hoover was 61 and Theodore Roosevelt was a 60. At the other end of the chart, both Ford and Carter rate below 1 in immorality; very low in other words. For the sake of argument, we've also included the average immorality for the Democrat and Republican presidents that we've rated. We also estimated how immoral the average US citizen may be. To help you grasp the chart, I've had those values reduced to percentages, too. The average citizen is estimated to be 27 out of 100 immoral. That's the same value as for Democrat presidents. The Republican presidents are quite a bit more immoral, 38 expressed as a percentage. As the charts indicate, the conservatives have been manipulating the issue of immorality. Taken as a whole, the Republicans are more immoral than the Democrats and the Democrats are very close to being as immoral as the average citizen. We concede that our work is not perfectly accurate and that some of it is subjective, but we've conscientiously tried to depict actual facts as accurately as possible. If you have information which would change any of our ratings, please share it. The obvious conclusion from this laborious work is that it is unwise to accept what conservative preach. They are not wedded to facts or truth. They have an agenda to sell.
