Mother the Slave
By: G.G. Stoctay, PhD

Except for pregnant women, slavery is unconstitutional in the United States. The Thirteenth Amendment that was finally adopted in 1865 to correct one of the many blunders of the conservative founding fathers says:
  • "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

This simple language has been interpreted to mean that if a woman dares to commit the crime of getting pregnant, she immediately becomes a slave to the fetus. Since men don't get pregnant (they only cause the pregnancy) they aren't subject to the enslavement.

The irrational Christian crazies who have for too long manipulated our nation's legal biases, consider it a crime for a female to get pregnant. The punishment for that crime is for her to be a slave to the fetus. To them, it's simply crime and punishment. Punishment is very important to the Christian mind, especially the punishment of those who disagree with them.

Admittedly, many, if not most women, seem not to mind being enslaved in this way. Such a woman willingly carries the cyst inside her body, feeds it like a parasite, suffers its tantrums, foibles and the many physical maladies it causes her. Such women more or less willingly accept enslavement by the fetus. It's a mystery.

It's a good thing women are so comfortable being doormats like that or none of us would be here. Indeed, the genetic design of woman seems to suit her for a masochistic and subservient role, at least some of the time.

Some women object to being enslaved by the fetus. They want freedom. Abortion is their solution.

It's probably not a good idea to kill people, even fetal people, but is it rational to enslave one citizen to possibly save a cyst that may someday become a citizen itself? Is enslavement of the mother justified?

Conservative politicians have never thought that women should have many rights. Conservative politicians have no problem with enslaving a woman and compelling her to surrender her freedom to a fetus. Conservative politicians abhor abortion. It allows the enslaved woman to emancipate herself. The conservative politicians are convinced that that should be illegal. They know that, for females at least, sex is a crime. Daring to get pregnant is a worse crime. Mom should be enslaved for that offense. It's a matter of crime and good Christian punishment.

Personally, I don't approve of abortion, who could? But it's by far the lesser of evils to the unwilling appropriation of a woman's body by a fetus.
