On a Mission From God

George W. Bush believes he's on a mission from God. He thinks that his god has sent him on a medieval crusade to slaughter non-Christian infidels, to conquer Mesopotamia or Babylonia (whatever he imagines it to be). According to president Bush, this god of his lusts for blood. He wants death. For some reason his god's not able to massacre humans on his own. He needs president Bush's help. Mister Bush's god demands human sacrifice. The president is happy to provide sacrifices to satisfy his god. He's already provided over half a million Moslems, mostly women and children. He's also provided thousands of American victims. Mister. Bush's god isn't sated yet.

George W. Bush imagines that he's a king, George I. He's exempt from the laws and Constitution. He imagines that he's the archbishop of Iraq. Because he's on a mission from god, he's excused from the moral and ethical constraints imposed upon mere mortal men. Archbishop George I is free to invent his own morality.

Truth, decency and respect aren't his concern. He's the Messiah of the conservative cult. He can do whatever he pleases. He's on a mission from god.

President Bush's divine mission isn't limited to his Christian crusade to colonize Asia. Mister Bush's god also needs the president to control Americans. Some Americans and others, too, think they should be free to say and do just about anything. Mister Bush realizes that regimentation is critical. His god can't do it himself (he's not very peppy) so Mister Bush is on a mission to spy on people, to regiment them into an obedient flock of sheep.

When the Blues Brothers believed themselves to be on a mission from God, people thought it was hilarious. When a Republican president thinks he's on a mission from god, people have a different reaction. Christian extremists think he's the Messiah, the second coming. Perhaps they're even crazier than he is. Religion, especially fundamentalism of all flavors has certainly proven to be unhealthy for the human mind.

There's no doubt that Mister Bush has a problem recognizing reality. There's no doubt he's delusional. There's no doubt that he's sophomoric, ignorant, fanatic and unable even to command the language. The poor man's a dunce with an impaired mind. Some persons think that years of heavy drinking and drug abuse caused his mental illness. Others suspect that he's simply a pathetic defect. The lunatics have taken over the asylum!

For us mere mortals, Bush is scary and dangerous. He's the Inquisition: torture, imprisonment, spying, eavesdropping. But it's okay because he's on a mission from god. Whatever he does or authorizes is alright because his ends are god's will. We mere mortals don't have to understand or agree. We're just sheep to be used, led to the slaughter. We exist to be sacrificed. George I will tell us what god wants. We will obey. If we're so evil that we rebel, we'll be punished. We're no longer even guaranteed the right of habeas corpus. If archbishop George I says we're an enemy, we're an enemy. It's as simple as that!

Other politicians have been dilusional, but George W. Bush is the only US president who's been that mentally ill. Generally persons who believe that they're on a mission from God, are institutionalized and medicated. That might help Mister Bush. It's not very likely.
