When Archy Bunker crooned that "we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again," all of us smiled at the satire. We felt secure that the days of American extremism were behind us and the nation had matured. Brother were we wrong! A generation slipped by and, like a bad dream, the satire came to pass. There was George W. Bush, Herbert Hoover with a smirk and a blood lust! What is it that they say? "be careful what you wish for..."
