Eternal Damnation!

The poor souls of the religious right are very troubled people. I call them "Muffy" after a nasty little girl I recall from the third grade. She was crippled and she hated everybody. She wanted them all dead. To me, the emotionally crippled extremists of the religious right are "Muffy!"

The Muffy have very few religious tenants. The few that they do have, they hold zealously. Far from being the innocent, loving folks that they pretend to be, the Muffy are obsessed with hatred. While pretending to be tolerant, they are really bigots. They justify their biases by saying that it's their victims' fault, not their fault.

More than anything else, the religious right is obsessed with murder. Of course since it isn't the Dark Ages any more, the Muffy can't actually continue the burnings and garrotings. Muffy settles for Eternal Damnation, the joy of the "devils."

In religious mythology, there's this naughty god called "Devil." It, or "he" (because in Western religious mythology only folks with penises are important enough to be gods) is bad. I mean he's
VERY BAD! Now, the way that we pathetic mortals can tell that this is the bad god is that he eternally damns people. He endlessly punishes them. He contrives extreme cruelties to harm them. Devil is inhumane!

Well, that's the Muffy, the evil Devil. In fact, back about the fifth century when that bad god was invented, he drew his name from the word "evil." He was the "Do-Evil."

But I digress.

Here comes Mrs. Oliver, a public servant who steals a few thousand dollars. The court gives her 60 days. Muffy gives her eternal damnation!

No, I lied. Mrs. Oliver is really a young mother and on an August afternoon, she locks baby-Alfred in the trunk of the car while she shops for a new uniform. The court gives her a year for tyke-toasting. Muffy gives her eternal damnation.

No, I lied again. Mrs. Oliver is really a transvestite. In a fit of rage, he/she slaughters his/her live-in girlfriend for doing something unseemly with the Veg-a-Matic. The court gives him life. Muffy gives him eternal damnation.

The point is, in the Muffy mentality of the Religious hypocrites, nobody ever pays his debt. Nobody ever finishes his sentence. Nobody ever progresses past his crime/sin. And all you people out there are sinners.

The Muffy mentality is the infection of the whole body politic. The very worst, most severe and least rational element in our society, the religious crazies, have poisoned the whole system. Criminal justice is now zealous eternal damnation.

We recently got an email from a reporter from something called the Tribune Watchamacallit (or something like that) out in Fayette or Westmoreland County. She wanted to know about parole. It seemed to upset her than criminals would finish their minimum sentences and then be paroled. The whole Muffy mentality is that a criminal is eternally damned. And not just criminals, presidents who get blow-jobs are eternally damned. In fact, everybody who disagrees with them are eternally damned!

It may be that justice should reflect sanity and moderation. It maybe that Muffy shouldn't be the morality of an enlightened body politic. It seems like a serous moral crises. The least rational patients have seized the asylum.

The Religious Right is wrong!
