The Pennsylvania prison system has a program specifically intended to break the human mind. The theory is that by properly abusing a prisoner, depriving and tormenting him, it's possible to drive him into psychotic collapse and to induce hallucination, mania, and stress which will destroy health, mind and the will to live. The goal of the prison program is to drive the victim to suicide and/or to instill such intense antisocial rage that the man will behave with irrational violence. These tender ministrations are in Pennsylvania, not in Red China, Israel, Russia, North Korea or Iran. This is treatment inflicted by supposedly civilized Americans against other citizens. Pennsylvania runs two brain-washing prison programs called Special Management Units. These units aim to destroy a man's desire for liberty, freedom and independence; to torture him into bowing to prison authorities, especially to kissing ass of guards and administrators. Generally speaking, the people who work in prisons and operate them have an unnatural need to dominate others. It's a sexual dysfunction. Where the brain-washing program fails, the prison system moves on to what might be called psychic murder. It operates a so-called Long-Term Segregation Unit where 40 unfortunate victims are systematically destroyed. Presently the Long-Term Segregation Unit is inside the dungeons at the Pittsburgh prison. The inhumane program is not intended to do any good for you, the citizens, nor for the community, nor for the abused prisoner. The unit exists solely to entertain the cruel prison administrators and to entertain those power-hungry members of the prison staff whose sexualities give them pleasure from the suffering of others and from making others bend to their will. The "LTSU" uses torment, deprivation, isolation, the environment and other devices to try to force the men to suicide. One small but important feature is the systematic deprivation of communication and mental stimulation. For very long periods of times, years, the victims are deprived of such simple things as newspapers, magazines, photos of their loved ones, visits, telephone calls and normal human interaction. Recently a compassionate attorney, Jere Krokoff, of Pittsburgh argued that there was no rational reason to subject men to these deprivations. He asked the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, (the tribunal next below the Supreme Court) to rescind part of the prison's policy of torment. You and I paid Kernel Mericli, a Deputy Attorney General, to argue that it was a terrific thing to drive men insane and to fill them with so much rage that they will be animals when they are released from prison. We taxpayers subsidize all sorts of prison madness. The Long-Term Segregation Unit is one of the worst. If you have a tall man, you don't beat him to drive the tallness out of him. You find the best ways to benefit from that tallness. Making prisoners buckle to bullying and/or lose their independence and individuality doesn't benefit our society. It harms us all. Some sane, rational and insightful person should be running the prisons. The goal should be to benefit the society, not the make a guard feel important.
