The Pennsylvania Department of Imprisonment (it falsely calls
itself the Department of "Corrections" plays musical chairs
with its 43,000+ prisoners.
Everyday the bureaucrats move some
in, move some out and stir up the rest.
The only way to keep
it all straight is to have a huge staff paid by the taxpayers
to push the papers around.
It's impossible for us to keep an accurate roster of where all the Pennsylvania state prisoners are housed at any given moment, but the Department of Imprisonment ("DOC") does it for us - all of us. In no way do we endorse anything the DOC says or does. We never believe anything they say. After cops, the prison system is the worst liar, but we realize that their list of prisoners is the only game in town. Without vouching for the accuracy or honesty of the information, we provide a link to the DOC prisoner listing. Use it at your own peril. If you wish to visit a prisoner, you can find the location of his/her prison in our list of prison addresses. We've provided links to get maps of the prisons' locations to make it easier to find them. If you want to write to a prisoner, be sure to use her/his number along with her/his name and address. The prison mailrooms pretend thay can't find a prisoner unless they have his/her number. Besides, it dehumanizes the prisoner to be nothing but a number. That's one of the important things the DOC wants to do. |
