Pennsylvania has no shortage of extremist and oppressive jurisdictions. It's the Alabama of the North. By far the most tyrannically repressive area of the state is Central Pennsylvania. Lebanon County is the archetype. If Hitler had been able to retire, he'd have felt completely at home in Lebanon! Lebanon County is a backward looking rural cesspool of cruelty, a police-state which all decent persons and businesses should avoid. Stories about the abuses of the county are legion. One example is their policy about water for the pathetic prisoners confined in the county jail. Water is strictly rationed and available for only limited periods of time. Showers, personal hygiene and even cooking and drinking are greatly curtailed. The prisoners can't keep clean and barely get enough fluids. Water policy at the prison is not the work of the jail's warden. The county commissioners dictate jail water policy in the name of scrimping a few pennies at prisoners' expense. We strongly urge all voters who are unfortunate enough to reside in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, to vote against commissioners William C. Carpenter and Rose Marie Swanger as well as against any other official who abuses prisoners. The way a person treats the lowest members of a society reveals the person's true nature.
