I've learned a lot during the 30 years of my imprisonment. None
of it was useful. At the Frackville state prison in East-Central
Pennsylvania, I learned something I'd learned at none of the other
prisons in which I'd been confined.
I learned how to despise people! I can honestly say that before Frackville I didn't really hate anyone, not even the liars who sent me to prison. Frackville, or really the Frackville prison staff has changed all that. I truly hate these people! I intensely despise them! The prisoners are not much different than at any of the other prisons to which I've been transferred. It's the staff that's so bad. The prisoners are, if anything, more passive, shallow and inactive than at other prisons. Many don't seem even to resent being imprisoned. Maybe they don't care. Their days orbit around basketball, sports and screaming at one another. I doubt that there are a dozen prisoners out of the 1000+ who do anything really constructive. They are contented crates in the warehouse. By contrast, the staff, especially the guards, are detestable. They are a special mutate. They are miserable and filled with hatred for the prisoners, for one another and, I believe, even for themselves. At most prisons the guards have some redeeming qualities of human nature. Not those at Frackville. It's remarkable. These are bad people doing bad things for bad reasons. Not every member of the Frackville prison staff is loathsome. There are a few exceptions. The vast majority, however, from the superintendent down to the lowest guard such as Conti, are unimaginably foul. One doesn't simply want to be away from them, one craves to avenge himself. It's a new and unpleasant desire. From the Frackville prison staff I've learned to hate! If you know any of these people, avoid them like the poison they are.
