Cops Beat Up
Old Man

By: June McFearson

Pennsylvania has more than it's share of bad cops. Two examples are thugs from the coal-mining town of Carbondale in Lackawanna County in Northeast Pennsylvania. Scranton is the county seat.

David Clark and Kyle Miller are two violent hick cops in the old coal-mining village. The pair of big, brave cops beat up a 73 year-old man --- 73 years-old! The cops may have been drunk, but that's hardly an excuse. Clark and Miller were attending a batchelor party for yet another cop.

Admittedly, most (but not all) cops are bad; bullies if not thugs. Clark and Miller are just a little worse than most. The victim, Walter Ogozaly was beaten. His condition is not available. The cops were charged with only assault and harassment. Two cops beating a 73 year-old man is certainly attempted murder. Cops protect one another so the Carbondale cops got off very lightly. The lesson is that cops are not nice people. At best they're a necessary evil. Beware of them!

There appears to be a connection between politics or the political climate and arrogant violence by authority figures such as cops and prison guards. The more aggressive, bullying and abusive the political climate, the more that cops and prison guards rely on violence and bullying. When the body politic treats people decently, the cops seem to follow suit.

Why are right-wing politics and politicians such bullies. Extremist propagandists such as O'Reilly and Limbaugh along with bullying Christian fundamentalists spread more than just hatred. They encourage the sheep to be abusive.

It would be a worthwhile psychological study to discover why right-wing politics relies on bullying and abuse. Perhaps insecurity is the cause. When before was torture official American policy?
