Why Children Kill.
It's No Mystery.

By Francis De Sales

Children have a single job. It is to learn. They do it very well; better than you, better than me. Almost everything they learn is by imitation. Children learn by example. They learn very fast. It's an excellent way to learn as long as they mimic a "good" example.

Cops are good. Cops kill people they dislike. Killing enemies is good.

The government is good. The government kills people it's mad at. Killing people you're mad at is good.

Daddy is right. Daddy kills things for fun. It's right to kill for the fun of it.

It's no mystery why children kill or why they act cruelly or selfishly. They've learned it. You are the example that they imitate. Mom is the example. Persons in authority are the examples. More than anything, the government is the example.

The one who is esteemed, revered, respected, obeyed, feared; he's the example that the kids mimic. Children learn well. Why did kids kill people in Arkansas? Because Arkansas kills people and the kids job is to learn by example, to imitate. They do it very well.

We teach our children our intolerance and our punishment mania. If we don't like someone, we hurt them. We "punish" them. If they do something that really hurts us, we get revenge by hurting them even worse. Children learn very quickly that revenge, retaliation and punishment are the proper standards of conduct. They learn that killing is the core of the American way of life.

The children do what you've taught them. They kill. Most wait until they are in their teens or twenties, but some flower earlier. Why do children go to such extremes? Because you do.

Then there is also this: to kill with a gun, you've got to have the gun. It's very much harder to kill eleven people with your bare hands. Fewer guns mean fewer people killed by guns. Who needs an arsenal of "sporting" weapons? (Who needs atomic weapons?)

So long as the cops have guns, it's true that citizens need weapons to defend themselves from official tyranny. Cops are far more dangerous than "criminals." DIsarming the cops reduces the civilians' need for self-defense. Fewer guns in circulation reduces the numbers of persons who can be killed by them.

How can a culture reduce the killing done by children? The society needs only to give a better example. It should do what it wants its children to do. Our society must be less harsh, more forgiving, more tolerant. It must stop killing. It must do everything in its power to prevent killing anyone, domestic or foreign. It must modify its primitive reliance on retaliation and "punishment." It must stop going to extremes.

The pitiable political control freaks think that more and harsher punishment is the answer.

No, its the cause!

Want decent kids? Be a decent society! It's no mystery!
