When I See You Smile

Wish I could be
The man you wanted
Sweep you off your feet
Just like thunder
Take you in my arms
And dance the night away
Only to feel the completeness
Of the love we gave.

Only to kiss you for another day.

(Chorus)

When I seen you smile
I started to feel again
Those bright brown eyes
I can't imagine how they cry

When I seen you smile
My heart melted to the floor
I thought I'd found my girl
But she belongs to someone else.

My feelings I just can't help
Would you feel disrespected
If I told you how much I wanted you?
If I took you in my arms
Showed how much I could love you
Don't want to hold you down
You're not my prisoner
I only want a little happiness
And love me tender.

And for your heart to surrender

(Chorus)
Lead Break
(Chorus)

[Written for Tammy Clark
from Burlington, New Jersey]

Alone
[I wrote this when I was 19 years-old
warehoused in the Soledad State Prison in California]

If alone I am
Then, alone I'll be,
A broken heart
That will never be free
Lonely is the man
Who is left alone.

River of Darkness

All my life I lived with pain
Deep inside me lives rage
I look for a chance to change
But the River of Darkness knows my name

Why does it seem
All I loved died on me?
Was this in God's plan,
The smoking gun in my hand?

The River of Darkess follows me
Deep inside it holds my dreams.
The River flows on and on.
My destination's unknown.

The River of Darkness
Never seems to change
The price I pay for who I am
Will I ever find my way
Back home from where I came?
