I would like to share with you three organizations that I hold in very high esteem. I have a deep respect for the people who make these organizations work and give of themselves unselfishly to make the lives of others better.

THE GOOD MEDICINE SOCIETY was founded by Eli Gatoga. Eli was by heritage Scotch-Irish and Cherokee. Today Grandmother Alloday Gatoga is the driving force behind the Society. They offer free correspondence courses through the mail to prisoners. The courses include The Philosophy Of Good Medicine and Wisdom Of Living, among others. I highly recommend them for anyone wishing to better themselves. I can't tell you how much I've grown because of The Good Medicine Society teacher Chyenne Morning Star.

Chyenne has a vast knoweldge of the ancient texts, religions, and Native American lifeways. She is adapt at dealing with complex personalities and has a gentle way of putting me in my place when my views and opinons are a bit extreme. Chyenne is excellent at leading the discovery of truth within the self. Personally, I've learned more and grown more as a human being at the guidance of Chyenne Morning Star, than the 24 years of jailhouse prison programing that was shoved down my throat by the Department Of Corrections.

That is the honest truth. I'm not just kissing up. What The Good Medicine Society is doing for me deserves to be shared with the world. If you would like to contact The Good Medicine Society and would like to enroll in the excellant correspondence courses they offer, you can reach them at:

The second organization is RUNNING STRONG FOR AMERICAN INDIAN YOUTH. Their national spokesperson is the Native American hero, Billy Mills. They do many wonderful things for Native American children. Mrs. Mandy Modell was kind enough (even though I'm in Prison) to send me one of their orgainization's calendars which is loaded with Native American historical facts and Indian language teachings. It gives me a nice feeling to know that people of this caliber give of themselves without a second thought. These great people and their organization can be reached at: www.indianyouth.org

Finally, an organization that also deserves much praise is called Adopt-A-Native-Elder Program, located in Park City, Utah. They work mostly with Navajo native people. Their mission states that they exist to create a bridge of hope between Native Americans and other cultures. It allows us to reach out to one another. Share our gifts and mend the broken circle of our relationship with the land and the Native Americans who hold it in sacred trust. This organization also holds a Shoe Run for NAVAJO children. They can be reached at:

These organizations and the individuals behind them deserve the support of citizens within our society. It is only through the generosity of the public that they can continue to do good works. In this land of excess, no human being should go hungry nor should any child be without shoes on his feet, a roof over his head, food in his stomach or dwell in a loving environment. Considering all that was taken from the Native Americans, we should not allow them to be in need.

The most may err as grossly as the few"
John Dryden, 1680
