The Pennsylvania judicatory must remain completely independent. It exists to protect the small, the weak, the unpopular, the minority. The majority doesn't need protection. It has power. The legislature is manipulated by the majority. The judicial system exists to protect us from the tyranny of the majority.
A few extremist politicians hysterically rave because the courts, especially our Supreme Court, is independent of the majority. Those politicians want to use the zealous might of the majority to bully the courts, to make the courts decide right and wrong based upon the majority's political agenda, or upon a popularity poll.
Those few fringe politicians are wrong. The courts are not representatives of the majority. They must not be the puppets of political extremists or the tools of mob rule. They must remain completely independent. There are those of us who are weak, minority, small, or, worse yet, unpopular. We need the independent courts. So does the majority.
Bullying is ugly especially in a politician. The few hysterical politicians should try to get control of themselves. They should not try to manipulate the courts.
