Americans can often be remarkably shortsighted and remarkably self-defeating. The homeland "security" mania is a case in point. Right wing extremists have sold the public a bill of goods: "protect your money, protect yourself, just surrender your liberties! We rich Republican politicians will protect you!" Americans should not be terrorized, but the solution is to correct the causes for terrorism. If we treat peoples decently, they won't want to kill us. Just as we should not be terrorized, we shouldn't be terrorizing others. In the name of "security" the homeland security mania is stripping you for your rights and your freedoms. The Homeland Security Department run by "Tommy Gun" Ridge has already set about to imprison the whole nation. When Ridge was Governor of Pennsylvania, his goal was to imprison as many citizens as possible. As federal super-cop, your liberties aren't worth a dime. Your real dangers from "terrorists" are small. Your danger from Ridge and the army of secret police is very great. In the last twenty years, "terrorists" have killed fewer Americans than die in auto accidents in a month! What "homeland security" is really all about is keeping the rich rich and keeping the rest of us obediently, sheepish, under government control. In a few years we'll all be damn sorry that we allowed ourselves to be hoodwinked by political control-freaks. The government will be watching you, searching you, eavesdropping on you, controlling what you can say and what you can do. Your right to free movement will be limited. You won't be allowed to hear views which "jeopardize security" and your right to have knowledge will be greatly curtailed. Dictators like to keep the sheep ignorant. As Governor, Ridge turned Pennsylvania into a veritable police state. As Homeland Security super-cop, he'll do the same for the rest of the nation. Bush is a dictator who wants you and me kept under strict control. He'll brook no interference in his goals: money and power for himself and his rich, oil barren puppet masters. Your children will go off to fight in his wars and your old folks will be cheated and impoverished. Who will be "secure?" You were never really insecure. It will be the rich and powerful who will be secured at our expense. Remember that the "fence that locks the demons out, also locks the angles in."
