I have recently completed a nonfiction manuscript tentatively entitled Point Of No Return. It is approximately
185,000 words in length and is divided into 28 chapters including a two page Introduction and a six page Preface and a twenty-five page Epilogue.

The Introduction of the book was written by Mr. Allen Hornblum, a past board member of the Pennsylvania Prison Society, teacher of political science at Temple University, past host of a television show dealing with Criminal Justice and author of Acres Of Skin: Human Experiments At Holmesburg Prison (Routledge; ISBN 0-145-91990-8).

The editing of the manuscript was done by Dr. Robert D. Marshall, senior English professor at the University of Pittsburgh.

Point Of No Return chronicles the life and times of a young man born in the foothills of Tennessee, raised in Maryland and ending up as a candidate for Pennsylvania's execution chamber after a short period on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List.

The story spans the era between 1955 and 1973. It focuses upon Chris Scott, the protagonist, as a troubled adolescent trying to cope with, and within, one of history's most insecure periods, the mid 50's and early 60's. His transition from adolescent to adult proves to be both difficult and destructive for him and all those around him: two bank robberies, a murder, three prison escapes, a second murder and an armored car robbery!

The general public, from skilled professional to blue-collar worker has always maintained a curious (even morbid) fascination with crime, criminals and the seeming paradoxical worlds of "good and evil." The majority of today's active and productive Americans grew up during the mid 50's and early 60's. Most hold fond memories of that era. Others, perhaps, not so fond. Whether reflected upon with favor or disfavor, it's a period of time many Americans reminisce on with a sense of unquenchable interest.

Anecdotes from daily childhood during that period of history: Chris's first girlfriend, first car, first sexual experience and first crime, juxtaposed with scenes of horrible, gory killings, prove an (to say the least) interesting literary device. Other intriguing vignettes keep this book from becoming just another well-told story. Instead, it propels the reader into another dimension of time and awareness where, perhaps, in some dark inner chamber of their mind, they wish to venture and/or (God forbid) to return.

I'm not only convinced that there is a powerful public interest in the subject matter, but also that there is a wide audience for my book. I'm firmly committed to the book and its success. I'm particularly interested in and wish to play a part in its promotion.

Because the highly publicized events of the book occurred in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Florida, the discussion of the book would promote substantial sales in these states alone. The added factor of the Nation-Wide Manhunt conducted and headed by the Washington-based Federal Bureau Of Investigation in 1969 and 1973 would do much to excite additional sales.

My present concern is finding the best possible agent and/or publisher for the project, one who has contacts with the larger markets, has been successful getting books published, and believes that he or she can get this manuscript published.

If you are interested in pursuing this further, please contact me via the address below. I will be delighted to send an outline, portfolio, selected chapters or, preferably, the entire manuscript.
