A gang of guards at the Northumberland County jail in Central
Pennsylvania have been arrested on various charges.
Christopher Guise and Kazimir Grohowski are charged
with beating a prisoner so savagely that they blinded him in one
eye. As a sideline they sold drugs to prisoners, but they
certainly weren't alone.
Timothy Thompson was charged with sexually assaulting at least one of the female prisoners at the jail. His excuse seems to be that the woman really, really wanted him. Holly Olvany, a 33 year-old woman guard was accused of being part of a drug selling/smuggling ring which included besides the assaultive Guise and Grohowski at least four other prison guards, Shawn Dicklocker, Nathaniel Wohlheiter, Hubert Dorkorton and Floyd Hulsizer III. In all, about 10% of the Northumberland jail guard force was busted. You wonder about drugs in prisons; where do they really come from? who profits from selling them? This case provides the typical answer. Prison guards are the pushers. Prisoners' families and other visitors are blamed and persecuted as scapegoats, but the dope really comes from the guards. And often in organized rings such as the one exposed here. What did these guards push besides vicious brutality? The cops say, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana. As a sideline, they are accused of pushing the even more dangerous tobacco. The sad part of the story is that the blinded prisoner and the rape victim are still considered as the criminals.
