Like almost all reasonable citizens, we're very critical of cops and prison guards. Persons who have a need to dominate others have a serious psychological defect. Since we've been so critical, it's only reasonable to give the guards and cops a place and a way to project what they really are. We receive hundreds of emails and letters from guards and cops whining because we've dared to criticize them. They want to be "respected" and admired." They fancy themselves as the mythical "good guys." Sorry, Charlie, we don't admire or respect bullying. In this department we give prison guards and cops a place to have their say. Only a few of them are literate enough to write rationally. Most of their correspondence comes from their wives and mothers. But, such as it is, we give them space.
