Our Secret Source Inside
The Greene State Prison
Exposes The Lack Of Improvement

By: Nancy N. Lyster

The following item was complied from information supplied from a source inside the hell-hole at SCI-Greene, Pennsylvania's worst concentration camp. You should realize that the source is a well educated white man, who is not particularly liberal and that he didn't expect his information to be published when he wrote it.

We've written several pieces about SCI-Greene and you might think that the place is improving. It's not! Read what your source has to say.

This place is truly as oppressive as you have read and heard. Just last week two white-hats [commissioned officer guards] were indited by the Green County District Attorney's office for falsifying records concerning the times and places that certain beatings took place in the Maximum Security Unit [the hole], who was present, the degree of the injuries and medical reports.

I thought I'd seen the ultimate in raciest guards when I was up there in the other prison, but these guards here are even worse. Blacks are singled out at every opportunity for harassment purposes. The thing that most bothers me is that if a man says the slightest word in protest, they lock him up. Yesterday a guard told an inmate to take a seat in a certain barber's chair. The inmate told the officer he was waiting for another barber to cut his hair. (The other barber was cleaning his work area in preparation for his next customer.) Anyway, the inmate said, "I'll just leave then and won't get a haircut."

To that the officer gave the guy a direct order to sit down in the vacant chair. The inmate then merely asked the officer if he could leave the barbershop, and the officer told him to turn around and get against the wall. Two guards were called to haul the man off to the hole.

We had a major shakedown a couple months ago wherein the entire prison was locked-down. A large Greyhound bus load of CERT ("Correctional Emergency Response Team") officers marched into the prison and down the walkways in platoons. All of them were dressed in navy blue uniforms and each platoon included two dogs.

They looked so pompous and Nazi-like that many of the inmates laughed in amusement.

This gives you an idea about the prison. The remainder of the source's material exposes the internal brutality of the prison, but publishing it might expose the identity of the source, so we'll refrain.

We taxpayers are the ones who sanction and pay for this barbarism. If you think that even prisoners deserve civilized treatment, make a stink. To prisoners at SCI-Greene, we say, send us the names of the worst guards. We'll publish them.
