Charles A. Graner, Jr. of Uniontown is a guard at the
infamous state prison at Greene County in far southwestern
Pennsylvania. He's not all that much different from hundreds
of other Pennsylvania prison guards. Jeffrey Beard,
the Secretary of Corrections, has them trained to be vicious thugs.
Charles A. Graner, Jr. seems to thrive on abusing and bullying people. His former wife, Staci, said that her husband had an extensive history of abusing her and her two children. She asserted that he threatened to kill her and their children. She added that he installed a secret video camera in their home and after their separation, he repeatedly broke into her home. This is the ideal kind of guy for Secretary Beard! The ideal Pennsylvania prison guard; a thug. It's unclear what involvement if any Charles A. Graner, Jr. has had with the long history of torture, torment and abuse that's the hallmark of the prison at Greene County. We know that abuses have continued as long as Graner was at the prison. Jeff Garis of Pennsylvania Abolitionists United Against the Death Penalty says that abuses there are continuing. He reported that there was "at least one savage beating of a non-death-row prisoner at SCI-Greene" so far this year. Complaints to the prison superintendent, Louis S. Folino are dismissed.
Of the thousands of photos and videos of beatings, murders, humiliations, rapes, sodomies and other abuses, a few have been released thanks to 60 Minutes II and CBS. A smirking Charles A. Graner, Jr. in prominent among the gloating abusers. Apparently Charles A. Graner, Jr. didn't spend all his time torturing prisoners. Reportedly, he was "romantically" involved with Lynndie England, one of the bevy of savage "GI Janes" who thrived on torturing naked prisoners. Lynndie English was sent back to the United States because she was pregnant by someone. If there's anything to genetics, can you imagine the menace that that kid'll be! He'll have a family album picturing mom giving the thumbs-up gesture over heaps on chained naked men. Much of the torture of prisoners was sexual in nature. Americans are purely obsessed with sex, even more than with money. Rape, sodomy and sexual assaults were common. The GI Janes were in the middle of the sexual sadism. They clearly have profound psychological problems, the dominatrix! The military has reported that 1 in 5 of the women in the military in Iraq got knocked up over there. There seems to be as much sex as murder in the military. But there's no shortage of murder, either. Numerous Iraqi prisoners were simply killed; boys as young as 8! It's the new American way. Pennsylvania's Secretary of Corrections, Jeffrey Beard, brags up all the guards who are in the military. He's published lengthy illustrated tributes to the thugs on military duty. He even traveled to Bosnia at taxpayer expense to visit (and be pictured) with the prison guards in the occupation army. Beard's training programs teach Pennsylvania prison guards to be violent and abusive bullies. Humiliation and degradation are their way of life. It's obviously the kind of treatment of prisoners that Beard wants. If guards abuse prisoners at home, why wouldn't you expect them to do even worse when they got away from home? Captives in Iraq are ideal targets for the psychopaths who become prison guards. Graner wasn't the only American prison guard who tortured Iraqis and Lynndie English wasn't the only GI Jane. Ivan Frederick was a prison guard in Virginia civilian life. Other Pennsylvanians involved in the scandal are Donald J. Reese of New Stanton and Jeremy C. Sivits of Hyndman, Bedford County. The slut-thugs are well represented in the scandal. From Maryland Sabrina O. Harman and Maghan M. Ambuhl are implicated. Javal S. Davis from Mississippi has also been charged. All the persons charged so far in the Iraqi prisoner abuse scandal have been from the 372nd Military Police Company headquartered at Cumberland, Maryland, but there have been hundreds of abuses in all the prison and torture chambers operated by Americans in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo. It's part of a much larger and deeper collapse of ethics. The pervasive attitude of extremism which flows directly from President George W. Bush is at the heart of the decline. Like a medieval pope, Bush is willing to do the most extreme, inhumane and unethical things. He's a control freak who believes that he's justified in doing anything no matter how extreme if it will get him re-elected. He's not simply a liar. His ego is a kind of madness. To get re-elected and to serve his big business bosses, Bush trumped up a war to benefit his big business, big oil backers. He sacrificed tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi lives and hundreds of American lives to force a Christian colony into the Middle East. Iraqi patriots and resistance fighters oppose the Bush invasion and occupation of their country. What would you do if circumstances were reversed. If a foreign power invaded the United States, killing your family and friends, destroying your life and land, what would you do? Bush and his war have made the whole world much more unsafe. Everyone hates Americans. Once there were only a very few fanatic terrorists. Now, thanks to Bush's extremism and brutality, there are tens of thousands of "terrorists" not just willing, but anxious to avenge themselves on Americans, any Americans, and on American institutions. The abuse of prisoners by Charles A. Graner, Jr and many others has made matters much worse. They are carrying out the Bush exploitation and extremism. As the Bush war got bogged down, he needed to "win" at any price. The Bush Inquisition systematically tortured prisoners. It is exactly what the Nazis did in occupied countries during the Second World War in an effort to crush patriotic resistance. Pennsylvania's 26 overcrowded dungeons are a monster of a business, a kind of self-sustaining plaque. They are Pennsylvania's only growing enterprise. In making welfare jobs for social and psychological misfits, the prisons have hired people like Charles A. Graner, Jr. These unstable person bring violent abuses into the prison system. Abuse is common in all the Pennsylvania prisons, but more common in some than in others. The Frackville and Greene prisons are among the worst. The Greensburg Tribune-Review has reported repeatedly on Graner and conditions at SCI-Greene. The crooked prosecutors in Green County refused to prosecute the thugs at SCI-Greene. Maybe the US army will be less Republican, less political and less crooked. Maybe some of the prison abusers in Iraq will be punished even if the abuse in America are still condoned.
