Charles Graner has been sentenced by the army for some
of his crimes at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. He got off with only 10 years. His crimes included various sadistic sexual offenses, serious assaults and, worst of all, getting
caught.
He was dumb enough to have his crimes photographed.
Before taking his violent perversions to Iraq, Graner had been a prison guard at the state prison in Greene, Pennsylvania. Many Pennsylvania prisoners complained about his abuses while he was there. Pennsylvania authorities did nothing. The administrators of the Pennsylvania prisons cover-up the guards many crimes and fail to prosecute them. Had Secretary of Imprisonment Jeffrey Beard prosecuted Charles Graner, the guard would never have caused the scandal in Iraq. There was universal jubilation among Pennsylvania prisoners when Graner was convicted. The prisoners were amazed, however, that he got off with such a small sentence. In Pennsylvania the same offenses by an ordinary citizen would have brought at least four times as long a sentence, but then, again, Pennsylvania is a vindictive place. Graner is only one among MANY Pennsylvania prison guards who should be prosecuted for serious criminal offenses. Pennsylvania seems to go out of its way to hire the worst sorts of thugs as guards. Vicious abuses continue at the state prison at Greene. We recently had to report a widespread pattern of ongoing sexual and physical abuse to the FBI and other authorities. In response, Secretary Beard's prison authorities compelled the complaining prisoners to write to us swearing that the abuses were resolved. There were no prosecutions of prison guards or staff. Numerous prisoners were punished. A similar pattern of abuse is continuing at the state prison at Dallas, Pennsylvania. Prisoners are hidden in the "hole" where they can be beaten, sexual exploited and otherwise abused out of sight of the other prisoners. Again, the prison administrators condone and cover-up the crimes. Charles Graner is only one among at least 150 Pennsylvania state prison guards who should be prosecuted for sexual and physical assaults and other crimes. At the state prison at Frackville one guard, obsessed with pornography and sexual harassment, should certainly be prosecuted for other crimes as well, including perjury. Other guards at that prison are involved in beatings, theft, harassment and sexual offenses. The prison administration knows of the offenses, but hushes them up. Guards at Graterford, Huntingdon, Albion and other Pennsylvania state prisons have been shown to be involved in everything from smuggling dope and fucking the prisoners to beatings and torture. Administrators punish the prisoners for complaining while letting the guards go free. Pennsylvania state prison guards are tested for their employment. The state now actively seeks out persons, (mostly maladjusted men) who have violent personality disorders. While Charles Graner was on trial, he was smug and chuckled about the harm he'd done to other persons. Sexual crimes seemed to amuse him. Such a mind set is not normal, but it's common among Pennsylvania prison guards. It may be that George Bush's insane war in Iraq cultivated extremism in persons of low character, but most of the offenders were thugs before they joined in Bush's invasion, conquest and occupation. One example was a runt at the Frackville prison. The guard was an oppressive neurotic before he was called up to the Bush war. Dressed up in army costume, he and his father (imprisonment is a family business) strutted around the prison gleefully bragging to fellow guards about what he would do in the army.
