Guards Plead Innocence
Massachusetts Prisoner Murdered
By: Moses Craig

A sickly old priest was murdered in a Massachusetts prison. But that's alright because he was a child molester. Murdering sickly old child molesters is a perfectly legitimate entertainment in America...or at least a certain type of people think it is.

The victim, John J. Geoghan, was housed in a tightly monitored, locked protective unit. Only the guards had the keys. Only the guards are given the opportunity of giving a story. Are you gullible enough to believe them?

Somehow, a murderer got into the protective custody unit. Somehow, he got into the old man's cell. Somehow he managed to lock the door. Supposedly that was to keep the guards from interrupting the murder.

Somehow the murderer had plenty of time and equipment to bind and gag Mr. Geoghan, to strangle him and bludgeon him to death. The guards went out of their way to assert that they had nothing to do with it. The guards said that they didn't put the murderer up to doing it. They claim that they didn't help him or let him in or do anything else. If you're gullible enough to believe them, you're a better man than me.

It's not unusual nowadays for prison guards to use prisoners to carry out their dirty work. It happens in Pennsylvania all the time. A group of cowardly guards at the Frackville state prison, for example, loudly accuse an old prisoner of being a child molester. They hope that other prisoners will take the hint and kill or injure him. The executives who run the prison seem to think that that may not be a half bad idea. They don't like the guy anyhow. The guards simply reflect the attitude of their bosses.

Employment in a prison is for the seriously neurotic.
