Destroying Indians and Dinosaurs
By: Elmer Miller

The American military has been in the business of stealing from and destroying American natives ever since the army discovered that the Indians didn't have guns and couldn't fight back. In line with that age-old policy, the military has decided to steal the Comanche National Grasslands in Colorado. The army wants to blow it up.

The scheme is part of an expansion of Fort Carson and destroying more native heritage is only part of the plan. As all conservatives and Republicans know, evolution is a lie. Christian crazies insist that there never were any dinosaurs or other evidence of evolution.

As an instrument of Republican right-wing extremism, the US Army also wants to destroy an enormous bed of dinosaur fossils and tracks. The military's plan is to use them as an artillery range. Hundred million year-old relics of the great reptiles will be destroyed. It's what the army has been doing in Iraq, destroying priceless antiquities.

We're not fans of the military. It is a destroyer, not a builder. We think that this scheme to expand Fort Carson is an example of military hubris. We can't expect the Republican government to protect either antiquities or native heritage. It's damn sad! Perhaps Republicans should be replaced with Comanches.
