Pennsylvania isn't the only home of official brutality and murder.
Prison guards in Florida are very bad, too.
A gang of 7 Florida prison guards beat a child to death at a so-called "boot camp" in Panama City. It was where children, mostly African-American boys, were tormented and tortured. The official policy is that by treating children brutally, they become benign. Or maybe guard-types simply like to abuse black children. While the guards savagely beat the child, a nurse stood by akimbo apparently admiring the spectacle. She didn't raise a finger to stop it. It was only a black kid, why bother. The guards' excuse for killing the child, Martin Lee Anderson, a 14 year-old black boy, was that he said he couldn't exercise. The guards said that it was just fine for 7 grown men to beat a little boy to death. Officials tried to cover-up the killing. They faked a cause of death, saying it was from sickle cell disease. This time, they didn't get away with it. This is another case where videotape of a savage beating was the only reason why the corrupt officials got caught at all. The only good thing to come out of the tragedy was that the child's prison was closed. Pennsylvania should close not only its "boot camp," but its prisons.
