An Extremist Law

From an Extremist Congress

by: Byron

The United States Congress is controlled by extremist Republican ideologues. They are a sad bunch, frightened, distrusting of the people, brimming with hate and awash with a mania we have not witnessed since the days of McCarthy, another irrational Republican.

From that fountainhead of right-wing extremism has come the worst laws of this century. The very worst of those worst laws (at least so far) is the Anti-terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act.

I believe this to be the worst law to have been passed in my 55 year lifetime.

It has only one goal: to hurt certain groups of persons as much as possible. If anything will be a record of our time and of it's cruelty and oppression, it will be this law.

While some nations become more civil and more civilized, the extremists have taken us to the outer limits of inhumanity. As a people have we really become this neurotic and vicious?

The anti-terrorism act has nothing whatever to do with terrorism except for the terror that's in the hearts and minds of the little people who enacted it. Certainly the bulk of the law is unconstitutional and some of it is now before the Courts. Lets hope that the judges are less extremist.
