Voting Rights
Progress
By: George Feigley

Thanks largely to the diligent efforts of Jon Yount, a prisoner at Huntingdon state prison in Central Pennsylvania and attorney Samuel C. Stretton's generous and astute representation, voting laws are being changed. For the first time in many years former felons are permitted to register and to vote. Forms for voter registration are available at www.dos.state.pa.us and/or from local county registration offices.

Other issues in the prisoners' suit are now before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Hopefully, significant improvement will soon be had in the voting laws.

In behalf of all prisoners and ex-prisoners, we thank Jon Yount and Attorney Stretton. Mr. Stretton reflects the best qualities that can be had in an attorney. We recommend him highly.
