Dauphin County Prison Guard
Daniel C. Hosler
Finally Busted

By: George Feigley,
Cofounder

Daniel Hosler, the first of what we hope will be many Dauphin County, jail guards has been busted for his immoral abuse of prisoners. Though Hosler works just outside Harrisburg, the "Unfriendly City" and capital of Pennsylvania, he hides-out many miles away in the Snyder County hamlet of Beaver Springs. We wonder if his neighbors realize what sort of a young man he is.

Guard Hosler is charged with physically injuring two prisoners, one of them a woman, while they were helpless and restrained. Send him "up-state," as they say. I'm sure some of the fellows could find something creative to do with him.

It's unclear how many prisoners Guard Hosler actually abused and/or assaulted. There have been hundreds of complaints about the staff at the Dauphin County jail and about Dominick DeRose, the inept warden, who lets the abuse continue. So far, only two of the victims have been allowed to charge Hosler. He's accuse of brutally smashing Lisa Adams' head into a steel prison door jamb.

The guard's excuse was that the woman was drunk. Maybe he figured she wouldn't remember what happened, or if she did, nobody would believe her. Certainly, the worthless district attorney of Dauphin County has been grossly remiss in prosecuting the guards' brutality.

Ayodi Harper, a black man, testified that he was viciously beaten by Guard Hosler, spat on and repeatedly called racial epithets. Mr. Harper's face, back, neck, shoulders and neck were injured in the beating. In Dauphin County, blacks are treated almost as badly as Hispanics. It's a Republican stronghold, so what do you expect?

Many other guards at the jail should be prosecuted. Hosler's assaults aren't nearly the worst things that have happened there. More importantly, it's essential to get rig of the county's DA and commissioners who allow the abuses. VOTE 'EM OUT!
