Please help US!!!

Myself and the above victims are continuously suffering at the hands of sadistic prison staff at the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill, in Central Pennsylvania. The state police and the Republican district attorney of Cumberland County, David J. Freed, refuse to do their duty and help or even to get involved in any way. They continually turn a blind eye to the victims' allegations of criminal abuse. (When contacted, Freed failed to provide any comment for this article.)

To add insult to injury, the prison staff continually hinders our efforts to address the civil courts through numerous avenues including, but not limited to,

  • A total deprivation of a mini law library,
  • Destruction of legal documents, exhibits, etc.,
  • Harassing cell searches,
  • Obstruction of outgoing and incoming mail,
  • Destruction of personal legal books,
  • Deprivations of legal exchanges,
  • Property sergeant withholding legal materials from SMU prisoners.

Our efforts in the courts are to bring their attention to the deprivation of our civil and human rights. You can see that we are left helpless.

From one who's suffered MANY Constitutional violations and criminal violations here in the SMU, I'm reporting the actual facts.

The SMU is falsely called a "program."

Let me start by saying that I was brutally assaulted by prison guards eg Spieles, Hubert, Banks and sergeant Jones on August 1, 2008 at approximately 8:35 AM. I was handcuffed at the time of the assault and could not fight back or defend myself. I suffered a broken tooth, lacerated eye, busted lip, smashed nose, permanent lump on my head, permanent knee and ankle damage. The staff left me naked in the cell without any medical treatment for 5 days.

Topping it all off, I suffered and still suffer from pain and internal injuries which get worse daily.

Of course I also suffer from serious psychiatric / psychological trauma from the assaults and conditions of the SMU.

To cover-up the vicious assault, I was threatened that I would be beaten again if I attempted to see a lawyer named Stephen Greecher, Jr. in July. On 2 dates I was denied legal visits. The lawyer was lied to and told that I refused to see him.

In August I again attempted to see the lawyer. I was assaulted as soon as I came out of my cell by the staff I named above.

The prison administration is aware that my life and safety were/are being endangered. They do nothing to get the sadistic staff under control. I can clearly prove that the administration had/has knowledge of the danger that I and others were/are in. On each occasion, the assaults and other abuses were video taped.

I've been subjected to these additional criminal acts. On 26 February when I returned from receiving medical treatment, I found that my cell has been urine drenched. The staff turned off the water in the cell and deprived me of hygienic supplies. I had no means of cleaning up the mess. I was left like that for 7 days apparently in the hope that I would become seriously ill or die. The guards involved included Spieles, Eder, sergeant Bingaman and Troutman.

On June 17 another prisoner flooded the tier with urine polluted toilet water. The guards took buckets of the water and threw it under the door to my cell, flooding it. My water was again turned off. Since I already had no soap or hygienic supplies, I was force to live like that for 7 days.

From January until September I was frequently deprived of hygienic materials including toilet paper and soap. I was deprived of shaving, of cell cleaning supplies and of much more. As a result of the filthy conditions, I've developed skin diseases on various parts of my body.

This was all done in retaliation for my submitting grievances against members of the SMU staff.

There's no reason for me to continue. I'm sure that the picture is clear. I need help! We all need help!

I'm suffering daily and don't know how long my mental and emotional strength will hold out. The pressures are unbearable. If anyone can find it in their hearts to assist me in any way, I thank you. dearly.

I plead that you act as soon as possible because I'm not promised to even be alive tomorrow in this torture chamber.

[Editor-in-Chief's comment: This story and letters from other prisoners in the Camp Hill SMU reveal such an extremely savage place that it's difficult to understand what kind of persons are employed in the prison and why they derive such unnatural pleasure from abusing other human beings. When we've inquired about some of the torture, we've been told that the men "deserve it" and/or that they cause problems for the staff or throw things. The staff is always portrayed as being decent and "good," blameless or any wrong doing, darling kitties!

The other day I was watching a program on Animal Planet. It was about efforts to rescue captive chimpanzees from solitary confinement and the abuses of being caged. The chimp is apparently our closest relative among the apes. It seems to behave much as we do.

The animals being rescued had gone insane from their captivity, protracted solitary confinement and abuse.

Like the apes, men who are caged in solitary confinement go crazy. They become very violent and loud. They throw feces and urine. They become defensive and aggressive. Where man or beast is abused with torture or torment everything is made worse.

I believe that prison officials and administrators, from the secretary of imprisonment to prison superintendents, to ordinary guards, realize how much harm they're doing.

Why do they do it? What can possibly be their object? Are they trying to manufacture monsters to eventually turn loose on society?

Like the author of the article, I'm left to accept that the staff is sadistic, obtaining perverse sexual pleasure from hurting, harming and injuring the helpless. The superiors must be just as bad, perhaps worse.]
