A federal law that went into effect in September 1996 makes it a crime for a wife-beater to possess a gun. It's one of the mania of anti-men laws so popular nowadays. Men, especially white working men, having become everyone's whipping boy!
One nice thing is that the law applies not just to the decent citizens, but also to cops, FBI, narcs, and the whole ugly brotherhood. It even applies to men in the military.
Any man convicted of disciplining his wife, even if it's only a misdemeanor and only a slap on the butt, is now forbidden to possess any kind of a gun (no more hunting if you clip the old lady when she swacks you with a pan).
Cops are among the nations greatest wife-beaters, so lots of them can no longer possess, let alone carry a gun. The most conservative estimate floating around is that 7000 of them will lose their guns and their jobs. The real number of cops who've beaten up their women is probably closer to 30,000.
Another interesting point is how the law is worded. It might also be applied to cops who beat up their kids, or even threatening to do so. Or even, to a cop who fights with his brother!
If you kow a cop who has slugged his women, or kid...or brother and see him carrying a gun, report him to the FBI. He'd do it to you, you can bet!
