Robert Shannon
Wouldn't Lie, Would He?

By: Used Car Dealer

Robert Shannon, the superintendent of the Frackville state prison, wouldn't lie, would he? Robert Shannon, the superintendent of Frackville, says that the prison is "climate-controlled" so it must be, right? Superintendent Robert Shannon wouldn't lie, would he?

In flatly refusing an old prisoner's request to be allowed to buy a small personal fan to relieve the oppressive heat during the summer, Robert Shannon decreed that "our housing units [he mean's cellblocks] are climate-controlled." He wouldn't lie, would he?

The cellblocks have no air conditioning, but Robert Shannon says that they're climate controlled. The summer temperatures in the tiny cells may exceed 100 degrees for days on end. Robert Shannon wouldn't lie, would he? There is nothing in the cell blocks to reduce the oppressive summertime humidity which keeps bath towels damp for days, but Robert Shannon says that it's "climate-controlled." He wouldn't lie, would he?

The office area where Robert Shannon works is air conditioned. The house which the taxpayers give to Robert Shannon to live in free of charge is air conditioned. The dining room in which he gets his free meals is air conditioned. Maybe that's what he means by "our housing units are climate-controlled" because he certainly wouldn't lie, would he?

Each long cellblock has a small, very noisy exhaust fan. It doesn't effectively move air, but maybe that's what Robert Shannon means by "climate-controlled." He wouldn't just outright lie, would he?

Department of Imprisonment regulations permit prisoners to buy small personal fans. They are particularly advisable for old men especially those with health conditions. At the state prison at Frackville in Schuylkill County in the east central Pennsylvania, they aren't needed because the "housing units" are "climate-controlled." I know because Robert Shannon says so. He wouldn't lie, would he?
