In the 7 years that prisoners.com has been in operation, it's ballooned into a formidable and influential source for news and opinion about the rampant abuses of the corrupt Pennsylvania Department of Corrections ("DOC") and its incompetent administration. TrafficRanking. com, an independent rating service, reports that the website is now within the top one percent in popularity on the Internet! The success and criticism of the website has not gone unnoticed by Doctor Jeffrey Beard, the Secretary of Corrections under recent Republican extremists. Indeed, many members of the bloated 15,000+ persons of the DOC mafia, are habitual visitors to the website. They deluge us with emails about what's going on at the prisons and among their fellow drones. For years the hard-drinking Secretary Beard has whined and complained about the website. He's repeatedly attacked it, focusing his ire on our hard-working Publisher, Sandra Feigley. Victimizing Mrs. Feigley has been an ongoing crusade for Mr. Beard. You'd think that the boss of a huge state department could find something more constructive to do with his high-priced time. He and his battalions of petty minions regard her as a threat to their lucrative tyranny. She works tirelessly to expose the abuses of the prison system, to improve the lot of Pennsylvania's 40,000 imprisoned citizens and to affect political changes. She's always been orderly and legitimate, working within the system no matter how biased or inept it was. The success of the website and Mrs. Feigley's effective advocacy of prison issues pushed Beard passed his typical bullying into vindictive retaliation. "Corrections" is a disgusting business of oppressive extremes, exploitation and retaliation. It's about harming people and benefiting executives. Jeffrey Beard used the venerable Pennsylvania Prison Society to express his vindictive vengeance on Mrs. Feigley. It's a small thing because he won't be there long. Maybe he'll go into rehab! DOC's attacks against Mrs. Feigley are certainly not unusual. It's all they know how to do. For many years DOC executives and employees have been retaliating against Mrs. Feigley's husband, George. He's been wrongly punished, persecuted and denied parole for ten years! He's a prisoner, so he's a lot easier to victimize than his wife. That must irk Beard no end! As bad an administrator as Jeffrey Beard is, he's by no means the worst. He's a considerable improvement over his predecessor, Martin "Himmler" Horn, who, after the horror of the Ridge years, has slinked back into New York (poor devils!). To me, it's the height of corruption for a public official with a powerful position of trust and responsibility to pervert it by making personal and unwarranted attacks on a woman who's simply exercising her constitutional rights and doing good works. In Jeffrey Beard's case we must consider the source.
