Bad Laws
And Less Bad Laws

America has literally thousands of bad laws, unnecessary laws and passe laws. For example, all the laws against the use of drugs are bad. They are the cause of at least half of all the crime in the country. The crimes are the direct result of the drugs being illegal, covert and enormously expensive. Didn't we learn from the tragedy of prohibition?

In recent years, especially since the conservatives and religious fanatics have bought their way into political power, many laws have curtailed our Constitutional, religious and civil liberties. Again the so-called "war on drugs" was used as the excuse to increase police power and diminish personal liberty. "Terrorism" is another boodeyman used as the pretext to reduce our basic rights.

Crime is caused by laws. Any action is simply an action until there's a law against it. "Criminals" are invented by legislators; fewer laws, fewer law breakers.

The Republicans and conservatives have also made the laws progressively more punitive, severe and even draconian. Cruelty has been substituted for justice. The current mode of government simply doesn't like its people and doesn't want to help them. Of the two sorts of government, the "hurter" and the "helper," the conservatives and the laws they force on us, are the definitely hurters!

The following menu lists the articles we've published relating to a few bad laws. If you have your own examples of bad laws, please email them to us for publication.
