No one familiar with the Pennsylvania prisons was surprise by
the report the United Nations received about torture.
In reporting
on torture by American forces, Amnesty International said
that at least 34 persons have recently been tortured to death
while in US custody.
The murders have been officialy approved
or at least tolerated at the highest levels of government.
Whi1e the report deals with torture and murder by federal death squads, the situation is no different in Pennsylvania. The victims in the Amnesty International expose were prisoners in federal custody who had not been convicted of any crime. They appear to have been murdered just for the fun of it. American officials seem to be entertained by murder. In Pennsylvania torture is not uncommon. Recently we received another report of the tortures at the Dauphin County Jail near Harrisburg. The victim was strapped into a chair and beaten by a squad of guards. The torture was done in full view of other prisoners. It was supposed to intimidate them. When the victim screamed trying to get other prisoners to notify his family, a rubber ball was forced into his mouth. He was almost strangled. The prison clearly encourages such abuse. We get many reports of the tortures inside the Pennsylvania state prisons. Camp Hill seems to top the list of abusive jails. Other prisons with a lot of torture appear to be Greene County, Fayette and Pine Grove. All the rest of the prisons have their share. Torment, threats, intimidation, false accusations and degradation are standard conduct at Frackville and other places. It's all sanctioned by imprisonment bosses. Curt Goering, a spokesman for Amnesty International suggested that American officials lie about torture. The same is certainly true in Pennsylvania. All the top officials are liars, pure and simple. Torture is going on. If you know of instances, go to court and write to us.
